VO, Retainer & Cabinet Size – What do these mean?
We have put together some terminology and an illustration to show: VO – Visual Opening, Retainer & Cabinet Size, for you. These should help you better understand the differences between these terms and their relationship to one another.
VO – This is an abbreviation for “Visual Opening”. VO refers to the viewable area inside the retainer. It is sometimes referred to as the live area.
Retainer – This is a trim piece around the face that hides the gap and clip assembly on a cabinet sign. Retainers are also for aesthetics of the cabinet.
Cabinet Size – This is the overall outside measurement of the cabinet.
EXAMPLE:
68” x 128” Sign Cabinet with a 2” retainer – VO is 64” x 124”.
